Even before our very first tasting, the clamor for an evening of Islay whiskies was audible and has only grown louder this past year. The requests have been constant, relentless and increasing in volume- and they’ve finally been granted.
I’m proud to announce that Wednesday September 18th we’ll be hosting Simon Brooking, Master Ambassador of Laphroaig and Ardmore, for an evening of Laphroaig whiskies. The Tasting will be held at the Waterman Grille – tickets are $30 and can be purchased at Bottles Fine Wine.
I won’t gild your glencairn, but suffice it to say that Laphraoig is a special whisky. We’ll be tasting six whiskies across the Laphroaig range. Here is the full lineup of whiskies:
- Laphroaig 10 Year Old
- Laphroaig Quarter Cask
- Laphroaig Triple Wood
- Laphroaig PX Cask
- Laphroaig Cairdeas
- Laphroaig 18 Year old
Laphroaig’s history is rich and they were one of the lucky distilleries that prospered during Prohibition, because Laphroaig was allowed to be imported as a medicinal whisky since no one thought that anyone would willingly choose to drink it. Times really have changed. This really is an unusual opportunity to taste six different Laphroaigs side-by-side, including the PX cask which is only available in Duty Free shops. Simon will be signing bottles at the event, so come prepared. I hope to see you in September. -t
